Shark Tank Season 1 – Episode 6


In this episode of Shark Tank only 2 out of the 5 hopeful entrepreneurs will get approved by the Sharks. How did the 2 entrepreneurs convinced the business tycoons to join their businesses? Find out why the 3 hopefuls didn't get the chance to expand their businesses. 

First to dip into the shark tank was Jonathan Miller, his business is Element Bars, they make customized energy bars, customers have the choice to put what they want in it and give a name for it. HE even made an energy bar for each of shark with a name that describes each of them. Jonathan wants to expand his business and looks for $150K in return for a 15% stake. Kevin O. and Barbara liked Jonathan but the profit of $50k was too low, they said No, Daymond offered $150K for 75% ownership while Kevin H. offered $150K for 100% of the business, and a 4% royalty. Jonathan countered 20% stake on Daymond's offer. Kevin H. really wants to get the deal and offered 35%, a 4% royatly and licensed Element Bars. Jonathan countered for 25% but ended up accepting Kevin H's offer for 30%

Everyone's been wondering what happened after they close a deal with the sharks, here's an update to Mr. Tod’s Pies. He's sales had tripled after the sharks investments. The 2nd to swim with the sharks was David Chodosh who is looking for 150K for 25% ownership of his "The Fizz Cup" business. It's a root beer float in a plastic vessel, that you will screw on top of a softdrink bottle. The sharks said that it taste good but thinks that he should ask ice cream companies for licensing and they were all out.fizz

 

Arlene and Buck Weimer, a married couple who were in an "Under-Ease Underwear" business, A new generation of protective underwear for flatulence, The underwear has charcoal filter to lessen the smell of fart. They are looking for $55k for 25% stake. The sharks had fun with the presentation but thought that the market is not enough, so they all said No.

 Kimberly Cayce entered the shark tank seeking for $55k for 25% of her Kalyx business, it is an undergarment products designed for sports. Although her products are good there are lots of competition out there from well-known companies. The sharks didn't want to invest.

 Brett Thompson and Heath Hall, both US Senate Staffs were the last to stand infront of the sharks with their Pork Barrel BBQ business, it's an all American BBQ sauce and they were asking for 50k for 10% ownership. Everyone thinks that it's too risky, except for Barbara who offered them $50k for 50% which they accepted.
